  • Paper Work Needed

    Hi all
I wonder if anyone out there can help me. I'm trying to hang a c-85-12f engine minus the electric start and generator onto a short mount. I'm up in Canada and in the process of registering the aircraft in the Owner's Maintainance Category. Transport Canada doesn't give out one time approvals or have 337 forms but my AI will accept a copy of a 337 or some type of documentation stating that it will work.

    Thanks for any help

    Maybe this will help?

or here which describes taking an 85C off a short mount to install a 0-200,
should prove 85s were used from factory with the short mount.

taken from http://www.taylorcraft.org/resources.html under 337s section.

    Hope this helps

      Re: Paper Work Needed

Thanks for the info Senior. I'll copy it and turn it in. I've copied some other information down showing the differences and similarities between the engines, but I think they want to see an actual approval of some one installing a c-85-12 onto a short mount. I'll throw as much paper work that I can at them. The AI gets what I'm trying to do and doesn't see a problem but he wants some thing that definetly shows it has been done before.

My pre-war "B" model has had a C-75-12 converted to a -8 motors with metal prop since 1953. The only difference between a C-75 and C-85 is the carburetor venturi & jet sizes, and engine speed red line. I can dig for paperwork if you still need it. I changed from a taper crank to a flange crank motor several years ago. Both were C-75-12's converted to -8's.

Thanks for the offer. I've handed in some 337s of various engines mounted onto the short mount, including a c85-12 which is what the inspector was wanting, so things are looking pretty good.

Are the 337's based on the Harer STC? If so, you really should obtain permission from the STC holder.
