Give a politician a revenue stream and he will find a greater need, all for the good of his constituency of course!

Well... two days ago I went for my 3rd Class medical and paid $ 175 for a 15 minutes medical review. With 100LL fuel prices around $4/gal = 43.75 gal or approx 10 hours of flying, all other factors excluded. And it can not be submitted as a claim to the health insurance.

          Wow. That's pretty steep.

Last fall I paid $150 for a first class medical, spent an hour with the doc who asked how my parents were doing (because he always asks about family medical history, writes it down and remembers to look at his notes), brothers and sisters and generally gave me a good health review, as well as the required FAA stuff. I don't recall that it cost me any more to walk me through the great kidney stone adventure, either.

            Re: Renewals

A fellow at the local airport just had his Twin Commanche annualed. Mice had come for dinner, gotten up in the nose wheel door and eaten up the wiring! There were other issues with it also. I reflected on this and thought of what it costs to fly this former pride of the fleet compared to my BC12D. I've got it MADE! I go 90 miles an hour, the t-Craft is GOOD LOOKING, especially in flight, very easy to fly, forgiving, fun to land, (slips real GUD!) I'm not going to complain much!PLUS, I'm flying on my drivers license, no need for Doctors! JC
