      Re: hangar design

      Ron,

Thanks for the second set of pictures. His son, Tom Griffing is a friend of mine. I showed him you first pictures at a graduation party we were attending . Tom was pretty excited to see the old buiding on Cloumbus Road. He said he sent many hours as a child in that building helping his dad.

Tom operates his dad's airport today and his son flys trips to the Eri Islands daily and they operate 2 King Airs on charter.

      Small World.

        Laz...
The stories that I could tell you about the cluster of airports around Sandusky from the early 1930's could raise the hair on a water mellon. Consider this! Sandusky was on the main road Chicago to New York. Centered between Detroit and Cleveland. Terminal destination from Canada via the Erie island. It was a wealthy resort and amusement area. You are talking about gangsters, gambling, prostitution, celebrities, politicians, and big business.
A lot of "liquid" came in from Canada and was air lifted from little airports now long gone...
Not for this thread, sorry about that.

I'll look for you when I get back to Sandusky.

OK so not this thread! Make a thread; please. Where I come from a dear departed friend flew the juice made here in the hills of NW Illinois in to Chi-Town from little airports like you refer to, as they have been gone for decades. Larry

            ...Just stumbled on this FWIW:

Text says it's from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. (Air & Space)
            A/C looks like a Stinson SM-8
