    i'm looking to rebuild my maule solid tailwheel..can anyone tell me how the 'fork' is separated from the steering assembly...i removed the cover and removed the nut under the cover and thats where i am trying to figure out how to procede...thanks...sal from mia

    Mine is the tube style wheel but I think they're the same basic layout. There's a nut on the top of the fork that holds it together, under the dust cap if you have one. Most supply catalogs have a breakdown of the assembly.

      I just replaced the pivot bushing and cam assembly. Once the upper nut is off you may have to tap the fork out. If you are replacing the bushing you must remove the grease fitting and the screws for the cam before removing the main bushing. Be careful when installing it to keep it round. I used a socket as a drift to R&R it. Also don't forget to drill out the bushing for the grease fitting before installing the fork. After reassembly my tail wheel would barely swivel so I clamped it in the vise and spun the fork about 20 times to loosen it up.
