  • Best Flight - Alaska

Well...here it is. The best flight I have taken so far in 30 years living in Alaska. This was the flight home from the Valdez Air Show on Sunday, May 9. Enjoy!

The most beautiful flight I have ever taken in 25 years of flying in Alaska.

Spectacular - nicely done. Gotta' ask about your main gascap - no float rod?

Ron, he has a factory F-19, which I believe had that little internal fuel gauge. The F-19, F-21 and F-22 have that I think.

You gonna be able to do some flying anytime soon or are you already in construction mode? Any time you have time to fly, I'll go with you. Flying in Jim Brewer's T-craft in Alaska got me all worked up for tailwheels again.

Hey Bill. I'm able to go most anytime. When is good for you - one of these nice late afternoons work?

Wow. What kind of camera are you using? Any tricks to not picking up distortions from the prop?

No special tricks...I'm just using a run-of-mill Lumix camera I bought at Costco for $149. Lumix uses Leica lenses so the camera picks up nice color contrasts.

Thanks for the comments...and Bill is correct, the fuel gauge is inside the plane in front of the windshield. It works very nicely.

              Really nice video. Beautiful stuff!

For what it's worth, my Wife's digital Canon Elph doesn't seem to distort the prop, either with video. Maybe the latest generation cameras have solved the "rubber prop" phenomenon?

That horizontal rubber prop is pretty cool for about 3 seconds but gets old in a hurry.

                  Great video Jim

It was nice to meet you and Steve in Valdez. Glad you had such a great flight home. What spectacular scenery!!!

Hopefully the attached picture of Tim and Steve's Taylorcraft on the ramp at the Valdez fly in works
