Doc and I rolled F-19 3556T into the hangar and officially began restoration by nailing the N number to the wall. I am looking forward to the bone-crushing acceleration of the O-200 and the modern convenience of having a starter.

As much as I enjoyed the trip last fall in your Taylorcraft and Doc's, I think the F-19 with its bone crushing acceleration and Wilga-like STOL capabilities will be even more fun at Recklaw.

I've been trying to get by see ya'll, but everytime I drive by it is late in the evening coming back from UTSA. One of these days, the schedule will work out...

I continued tearing down the F-19 today. There are subtle differences between the BC12-D and F-19, so here in no particular order are things that I found interesting.

The first two photos show the antenna system. I think this was engineered for 400 mph.

The area under the baggage compartment and seat are a perennial question to many, so here are two shots from an unusual point of view.

The plywood baggage compartment mounts to angles in the corners - slick, but note the water stains.

The fabric clamp fitting at the door post appears to protect a wear point. I can't think of any other reason this is required.

Here are six more interesting features.
First photo is the plastic (vacu-formed ABS plastic I believe) being removed. The old plastic is very brittle.

The second photo is four useless pounds of speaker. I wonder how loud you had to operate the radio to hear this beast? And who knew that Mud Daubers liked Hi-Fi?

The tail post area is very clever. I never tried using old oil to capture loose hardware that had migrated to the tail.

Trim tension spring is a lot lighter than the Ace Hardware Scree Door and Trim Spring I used in my BC12-D. Gotta love the S curve to take up slack.

The corner of the windscreen area - plexiglas is removed in this photo. Makes an interesting study in geometry. Wish I had a digitized wire model of this.

The wing wedge was screwed onto the fabric from the inside out. The rectangular plastic gusset keeps the screw from pulling out. So How do you get back there to put the wedges on anyway??? The aft piece of the baggage compartment must be left off until after covering is complete!

There's no telling what you will find in there. It was purchased new and spent its whole life as a trainer at a flight school. Nothing there was hangered.

Mark thanks soo much for the pictures of 56T. I put metal stringers on my BC 12D and these photos help a lot to see how well I did with the wood blocks and springs. If you have any more please post or let me know if there is another way I can look at more pictures.

I'm glad you liked the photos. Taylorcraft anthropology shall continue as I keep removing parts and peeling off years of dirt.
