Got back from Ithaca last night. My brother thinks that just
because he's my brother, anything I can do, he can do. One of
these days he will discover that such is not the case, especially
when it comes to mototcycles. He's O.K., after a helicopter ride to a trauma center, and a lot of recovery in the future. This was his first bike, his wife says it WILL be his LAST.
Now that he is safly in several casts, I know I';ll be able to make Alliance. I really wish I could have been at LaGrange with you guys. Sabrina

Brothers bike

No, it was a brand new Suzuki Intruder. Someone pulled out in front of him about 50 yards distant, and he just froze at the controls. He never even hit the brakes, they say he T-boned the
car at 40-50 MPH. At the time of the wreck, he had the bike a week, ( total experence), and the bike had a little over 400 miles on it. Sabrina

What a shame, glad he will be ok. I see it all the time though, 50 something and riding down the freeway, feet on the highway pegs , 10 feet from the car ahead of them and not a prayer of a chance to reach the brake if the car backs off the gas. Not that your brother was riding that way but way too many riders scare the hell out of me just watching them from my car on the way to work.
Not to say it can't happen to us but it helps to have grown up on cycles as i have a hard enough time with the traffic now without a learning curve thrown into equation of motorcycle dynamics at this age. Still enjoy them though, specially with ABS brakes and pulsing headlites, but planes are probably safer, less people to pull out in front of you.

Riding at 50+

I agree with you 100%. I'm just glad that he didn't decide that
he could ride the same TYPE of bike that I do, (Suzuki 1000 GSXR).
Had he been on one of those, he would have been dead for sure.
I don't know what gets into some people's heads, They turn 50,
see someone doing something that they have been doing for
several decades and then decide that THEY can just jump on, and do it too.

I am even with the board ; Two of each ; aircraft, car & motorcyles crashes......never at fault . Always mechanical or the other driver....... well back to the airport , mowing, draining , seeding, fixing ,,,,,
