  • lets get some info together

I am new to taylorcraft ownership. I had read on here a few weeks ago about gettng together a maintenance guide full of learned tips and pitfalls. While I am short on taylorcraft knowledge i am long on time. I have to do an annual here shortly. Personally i don't feel comfortable in doing the minimum. If you guys would contribute ideas that should be included annually or bi annually plus any progressive inspection needs I will compile them. My idea is to have a universal form that can be used as a check list and a separate print out that can be signed and dated to put in the log books. should this grow I will continue to compile and we could have a guide with instructions on these inspections or modifications.

So for this thread if you have a tip or trick on how to perform an inspection plus any areas that need inspected that are not included in the service manual drop them here. As i put the check list together I will provide it here for review or use. if you have your own check list made send them to me I'll compile them and hopefully we can all benefit.

      Eric,

Attached are a couple of Word documents that contain important information regarding annuals and owner maintenance. One is a list of items to be performed on an annual inspection. The other is an edited version of the regulation that spells out what an aircraft owner can legally do regarding preventive maintenance. The document on annual inspections is generic to all aircraft, so naturally it contains items that don't pertain to a Taylorcraft.

There is also a document titled "Plane Sense" on the website at www.faa.gov, that says that the aircraft owner is the one responsible for recording inspection. It is a very good read and has info on a lot aspects of buying and owning an airplane. I would have included it here, but it is a large file. I think if someone did a google search for "Plane Sense", or used the search feature on the FAA website, they could get a copy of it. It is a pdf document.

Here is a link to the Plane Sense pdf file. It is very good reading for anyone contemplating buying an airplane. It also has some good info for the aircraft owner in the maintenance section.

Here are some photos I have collected over the years that may help some owners understand what to look for, or why it needs looking at on an annual. These are all from a BC12D.
