      Re: Prop Crush Plate?

I don't think friction co-efficent can be counted on to deliver the power from the engine to the prop. The only wood propp I have experience from on my friends Thorp with a O290 G 125 hp, and it had metal bushings, one for each bolt, in the prop what transfer the torque from the hub to the prop.
The Thorp uses a spesial prop extention as well, it is machined to take the bushings. The bushings are about 1" long and 3/4 " are in the wood.
My prop is Metal prop so I have no crush plate, just AN washers under the nuts.Cant remember for shure but I think it is busing in my prop as well.

Speaking of separation/ failurs In the laminations. If ANY lamination has failed in a wood prop, Dont fly it!
A fellow we know is rebuilding his Thorp after the prop failed on him.
He is lucky HE is able to do it.
Interesting Math! now I have to dig out the calculator.
