      Hi Lance,

We got my plane on floats yesterday. Sure feels different than having wheels underneath. Neat though, with all those places to land. We'll have to plan a little fly-in here soon at some lake. Maybe over where you guide and all those bears hang out. Steve.

Hi Lance! Floats go on on the 19th. Thats good because I am getting antsy.

I would like to take in two or three hours at the end of the day tomorrow or Sunday at the trade-show. I have to work but I get off early afternoon.

Hey Steve! Did you receive my reply to your letter a few days ago?

I'm new to this forum. I see that there are a few people from Alaska. I own a 1960 C150 that I converted to a taildragger. Eventually I would like a float plane, can't afford a Super Cub, my A&p tells me to get a T-Craft, put a souped up 85 in it and you have a plane that will give a Super Cub a hard time. I have flown in T- Crafts on floats worked fine with two people, one was a 65 hp the other one was a straight 85. I thought it was a little thight, I'm 6'1". I guess you can lover the seats somewhat and if you put in a green house you get more head room.
You guys in Alaska how do you think your planes work in that enviorment?
By the way we go to Alaska every year, one day I would like to make the trip from Maine in my own plane, shuold be a blast.

              Super Cub

I am considering selling my early C-90 equipped Super Cub (PA-18-95) and only fly the Taylorcraft under the Sports Pilot rules. Price: $37,000. If interested, email me for details. See the plane at my website with link below.

peter I have a 1946 bc12d with a 90 hp no elect. Its pretty much stripped bare bones no int. except seats and a baggage comp and just a few inst. It dose real well on floats. Light i can almost go everywhere a cub can go. i have the 1500 lb gross wt inc. Fully loaded it takes a little bigger lake to get off like all float planes. In the winter on skes she dose real well she likes the cold... if i had it to do all over again nowing what i know now about the taylorcraft i would have a 46 bc12d with a 85 or 90hp cont. A real good frind built a pa 12 with a 180hp motor he has everything you can put in a plane he wasnt thinking about waght to much. He cant go everywhere i go in the t craft and he cant stand that to much...........

I was at the Taylorcraft Rendezvous in Columbia CA this weekend and saw a great idea. Remove the seat cushions and put in one of the Oregon Aero full length foam seat pads. They come in 1/2", 1", and 2" thicknesses. They fit nicely into the sling and feel like a bucket seat with great lumbar support. I am 6' and they gave me a lot more head and knee room. Only down side seems to be the price - $260 or there abouts.
Taylorcraft - There is no substitute!

Thanks Lance and Carl for you replies.
Right now I'm thinking of going experimental, this is not Alaska and my A&P told me that our local FSDO told him " no matter how logical and no matter how many times it's been done before we are not going to give you a field approval".
I'm also leaning towards an 85 with a Stroker kit, 100 hp plus.
My A&P is giving me a hell but I would like electrics, radio, transponder, starter and lights. Other than that I will keep it as light as possible.
I'm going thru Palmer on June 5 or 6 maybe I will see you Alaska guys flying around.

                    Thanks
                    Peter
