Here's a couple pictures of my composite bungee covers.
I want to see if molded, composite covers can replace the aluminum ones. My old aluminum covers were so beat up I had to barrow a set to copy for the mold.
I wasn't sure how thick the layup would have to be, so I've made two sets so far. The first set (shown attached to the belly of the airplane) is ultralight and super flexible, with one layer of glass cloth overall and extra reinforcements added around the mounting holes. The second set (my backup covers) are double thick, double reinforced and quite rigid, I'll try them next if the ultralight covers fail.
I've added strips of neoprene U channel along the front and back edges to dampen the vibration in those areas.
It'll be interesting to see how they hold up.
