  • Search help "IFR"

About a year ago there was a discussion about converting a Tcraft to allow it to be flown IFR. "IFR" is too short a string to search on. Anyone recall some other search term or who started the thread? - Mike

Yeah, I know, it's not worth it, but a guy can dream, and besides, it's too hot to weld at the moment. - Mike

Mike look at 'Adding a turn and bank' by Danny Dot. That'll get you started. h

Shouldn't be difficult. Elec. System, elec gyros, pressure sensitive altimeter,
and an appropriate com/nav. and maybe a transponder to make ATC happy. Always dreamed of shooting an approach to ILS minimums in my Taylorcraft.
Must admit the older I get the more the dream dosen't seem important.

So what are the options for pitot anti-ice?

        1. A BB pistol to knock the ice off every so often, but it would be a PITA patching the little holes in the wing.

        2. A catalytic heater fueled by a BIC lighter, but it might be hard to keep it lit.

        3. A pocket hand warmer lashed onto the pitot tube with duct tape.
