The information I have is the engine failed on take-off. The pilot landed on a service road for the Delta-Mendota canal. On roll out they struck a sign that sent them into the canal. The plane has not been located or recovered to my knowledge.

        Trouble with a capitol T,
I got off the phone with the FAA this morning and there are a number of issues that will need to be addressed. Both survived but the pilot suffered some serious back injuries.

If he doesn't have a license then they can't very well revoke it...
