  • BC12D landing gear width ??

I need to know the ouside dimensions for the landing gear wheel to wheel.
I'm trying to find a trailer wide enough to take the fuse only to another hanger . I have found one trailer that is 80 inches inside, I think that one might just do it.

I just measured the trailer I brought the basketcase home on. It is a converted boat trailer that I welded steel channels onto for the tires. The distance between the INSIDE edges of the channels is 75 inches, and the max. width between the channels is 85 inches. This dimension allowed the tires to fit, however the bungees were NOT tight, so we were able to squeeze the gear together or apart enough to fit the trailer channels. The big problem is that the bouncing on the road will make the landing gear TRY to spread apart if you do not have the wheels tied together. So if you simply strapped the wheels or tires down, bouncing on the road might easily spread the gear apart and the airplane would "so a split" over the outside of the trailer and damage the LG parts. So I suggest tying the wheels together.

I'm guessing my trailer at 80 inches will work then. I already planned to strap the tires and connect them side to side so a spread would not happen. Besides the trailer has a two inch lip on the sides which will prevent the gear
      from spreading.

      Thanks for your input .

I just went out and measured my BC-12D at 80" outside tire to tire. I don't have the wings on so that may squat it a little I don't know.
