    Jim,

I used some Liquid Wrench to loosen the screw, then worked it loose with a screwdriver laid in the groove sideways. Later when making more adjustments, I used a quarter. It helps if you hold the end of the strut down just a little. If that isn't enough, you will have to loosen the jury strut clamp to lower the upper end of the strut.

Pull down firmly on the aft strut while lifting the wing tip and it should come out so you can get to the end of the strut with a screw driver. Be gentle but firm. You may have to prize the upper strut fitting apart GENTLY to help out, and a little lubricant can help also.

Remember that the lever arm of the strut can wreak havoc with the strut attach fitting on the fuselage.

Adjusting the wash out requires a sign off, so I hope you found a new undead A&P.
        Best Regards,

don't forget to remove the jury strut connection & loosen the bolt at lower end of the strut.

got it done, wasn't lifting the wing up enough... one and half turns did the job, perfect hands off stable flight.. yea. thanks for all the help folks. Now all I have to do is find out why mode C doesn't work with my installation of new KT 76 A. Class B at Honolulu... Aloha, Jim

Check the strobe connection wire of the encoder. Most installations require it to be grounded. Without this connection the encoder will not send data to the transponder.
