  • Dripping Carb

For some time now I tried all the tricks to fix a dripping Stromberg carb. Well I finally got the right person and his question was "Are you sure that your primer isn't leaking." Low and behold that was the problem, so don't always assume that the old Stromberg is at fault, I took the primer line lose and turned the fuel on and the drip was there alright but out of the primer line. All's well that ends well.

    Re: Dripping Carb

    Mike :

I had a dripping carb once and the solution was to raise the tail to a flying position over a wooden support while in the hangar.
Primer line may be stuck or not returning completely.... take a look at the travel of the line when its openned and closed. Maybe it just need some TLC.
    Stuck float?
my 2 cents ... hope it helps

      Re: Dripping Carb

I had a leaking carb on mine, usually it stopped after a bit when the fuel shut off valve was closed. I did have the carb overhauled awhile back and they lapped the steel needle, stopped the dripping totally....
