The 2009 Iditarod is underway! Steve Long and I stopped about 30 miles up the trail from the starting line to watch the teams pass by. T-Crafts are excellent dog musher viewing machines!

    Re: Iditarod

Great Pictures Jim. Thanks for sharing. Hope to some day come up there during the Iditarod. Maybe when I retire, but wait, I forgot, that's never going to happen with the current economy and the great stimulus program! So I guess it'll just stay a dream for now.

      Re: Iditarod

      Hi Randy,
I HIGHLY encourage you to come to Alaska in March during the Iditarod! It's an experience like no other. If you can only come to Alaska one time I would recommend June, but March is definitely my second choice and is probably my favorite month. It's also some of the best flying weather. It's 8:00pm and I still have enough daylight to make a landing on skis. C'mon up sometime!

        Re: Iditarod Airforce link

I always enjoy checking out this link to the Iditarod Airforce, as these folks make a tremendous contribution to the race. After you accept the disclaimer at the beginning of the site, you can enter the site(it's free!) take a look at the section on "Winter Operations", which gives you some insight into some of the things to be considered while operating under these conditions.
