  • Have You Seen This T-craft????

    Hey Tribe,
I'm thinking of buying this T-craft and I was hoping someone on the list has already taken a close look at it so I could get an idea of it's condition.

The owner, though really nice, doesn't seem to know anything other than it passed it's last annual(I think it might have been done before he bought it but I'm not sure). He said he has never looked inside the wings or behind the baggage compartment at the tubing.

Maybe some of you have seen the airplane and looked it over and would be able to give me some more insite before I make a 500 mile trip to look at it.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

I attached the wrong picture to the first message and it wouldn't let me change it so here it is(I don't think my wife would have liked me sharing the other one with you . )HAHA.It really wasn't anything bad, just one of her sleeping after an all night Rook game and a few beers.

I was considering the same aircraft but since I live in seattle I thought I would pass. It's about what I'm looking for in an airplane. Low initial cost and ready for some TLC.

I may be heading out to NY to buy this airplane. I found some info on the previous owner and will give him a call. like crisy critter said the current owner is a nice guy but I stil have not been able to get mutch info out of him. The last time this plane was registered was 04-23-2003 I'm not sure but does that reflect the last time it was sold and a new registration was made or is that the last time some one payed the yearly registration fees? The current owner never registered it in his name. I also need an apprasial done on the plane. I asked for the name and # of the IA who did the last annual to pick his brain. My gut is telling me getting all the paperwork on this plane sorted out could be very difficult. I want more info from the seller before I pay for a title search. Is there anyone near Jamestown NY I can pay to check this bird out in person???

          out of annual

          Hey Jason,

Don't want to be a wet blanket but I ran into this last year on a Luscombe. It was advertised as an 8F. In Calif) Low time, all logs, hangared, ect, ect. Talked to the owner 5 or 6 times and e mailed a bunch. The price was right and I was a buyer. Then I got all of the 337's from the FAA. paper work was all good except there was no mention of the flaps and the bird started life as an 8A with no elect, 65hp cont. and no flaps. Turns out, that why the acft had set for 4 yrs with no annual!!!! It was purchased by someone else not long after I said no deal. The buyer found a copy of one of my e mails stuck in a file folder not long after his purchase. I got a phone call one evening and when I mentioned the flap problem, the guy went ballistic!! Apperantly the seller won' t refund his money and he can't get the bird annualed until the luscombe flaps are installed via the STC from the luscombe foundation-cost about 6 large. I just received a certified letter from an attourney is San Jose requesting some info and wanting to know what I know about the acft. I guess the lawsuit is getting ready to start.

My advise is get the history from the FAA on a disk and review the type certificate and be sure that this Tcart is much like it came from the factory or have the paper work to justify the change.

Then spend the money for a good pre purchase inspection.
          Best Regards

So far every thing is looking good. I am waiting for a response from a NAAA certified inspector to go examine the plane, that will probably cost $500. The title search is underway right now. The current owner did not register the plane in his name, the last registered owner agreed to sign any paperwork if needed. Does anyone know how to speed up time?

              Seen the plane

It is at a grass field called Dart (owner Bob Dart) Very active field in the summer with glider there also. It is about 1.0 flying time from braceville. I was there last year and saw it.

You can also call the FAA Aircraft Registration Branch at 405-954-3116. For $5 they will send you a cd for that specific airplane, with all the pertinent paperwork that was filed with the FAA. Quite a bit of info on there. This usually takes about a week.

For more info go to http://registry.faa.gov/aircraft.asp#SpecialN-Number and scroll down to the Copies of Individual Aircraft Records part.

                Hope this helps!
