  • Taylorcraft aerial HD video - 25% scale

No footage from our "real" Tcraft yet..... still working on a pan/tilt gimbal. However, I did manage to shoot this today from my electric powered 25% scale Taylorcraft. 14.5lb take-off weight, flies for about 18 minutes at 65% power.

    Enjoy!

    Nice DJ!
Are you going to shoot loops with your full scale plane?
    Very nice photography.

I loved the video of the flight around the pattern, I can't wait to get my plane in the air and do the same thing.
        Happy landings,

not me.... I have a fear of the soles of my feet pointing upward

It's a Lanier kit. No longer in production but you can still find them at some hobby shops and on eBay.

            DJ,
Your's looks nice. Models of anything vintage other than a Cub are hard to find. The Eflite Tcraft looks nice, but I don't really want a clipped T. Been eyeing a new Champ 1/4 scale ARF Hobby Lobby has, they have a big 108 Stinson that looks nice too.
We'll look forward to more with your camera setup.

There was something wrong with your video, but couldn't put my finger on it. After a day of freezing my fingers while taking down Christmas decorations I realized what it was. NO SNOW!

What kind of camera did you have onboard the T-Craft to get that nice video?

I'm just getting back into video after Santa brought me a new HD camcorder. Neat stuff!

I used a Panasonic HDC-SD1 video camera. It shoots 1080i HD footage. Weighs about 1.5lb with a wide angle lens converter threaded on the front.

There's some really great digital still cameras these days that are capable of shooting very nice HD footage in movie mode.

Here's a little clip I did with a helicopter and a little Panasonic DMC-LX3. Weighs about 8 ounces.

a few pics of the camera bracket... nothing fancy but functional. CNC cut from some 1.7mm G10-FR4 and mounted with neoprene dampers.
