  • swap meet in Bowie, Tx.

I just got a msg. on another site that I'm a member of about
a fly-in/swap meet in Bowie, Tx.. I think its this weekend, but I'm not sure. The E-mail address of the guy thats holding it is
[email protected] There will be a 1946 Taylorcraft for sale, along with a BC12-D project that is also for sale. Also up for sale
are a 1966 Alon, and a 1946 Ercoupe. Please don't get mad at me for starting a new thread, but its the only way I knew how
to get the info out on such short notice. Sabrina

    Sabrina,
Bowie is only about a 30 minute flight for me. However it's this weekend I'll be at the Burnet, TX (BMQ) fly-in / airshow. Is the swap meet a regular thing, or just a one shot deal?

            Fly-in

I found out about it from a site [email protected]
It is a site that is dedicated to those of us that are taking a
Continental designed, Hercules built air cooled flat four cyl.
four stroke engine, that when we get done adapting it puts out
between 40 and 50 HP at 3,000 to 3,200 RPM. We then direct
drive a prop, and stick it on ultralights for a MUCH more reliable
powerplant. We pick the engines up for about 750 to 1,000
dollars with less than 150 hours total time on them. They are TBO'd at 1500 hours. Saturn Surplus has all the parts for the engines, I can completly rebuild one with everything new but the block for 601 dollars. Try THAT with an A-65.
Anyway, one night, a group of us were sitting at our keyboards
and this Fly-in just sort of happened, the same way the
            La Grange gathering did.
In addition to the aircraft already listed, there will also be a Cessna 140, and a Stearman for sale. There will be camping spaces with electric, and tons of tenting spots available. Food
vendors will be there, so no one will go hungry, and you guys could get to see a lot of ultralights flying these engines. I may
fly my Avenger ultralight with it's A-084-3 ( that's the military
nomenclature for the engine ), on it. We are just a group of
very inventive ultralight pilots, some of which also fly G.A.,
who are going to swap ideas that weekend. The aircraft and
parts swap meet is just icing on the cake. I hope to see some
            of you there. Sabrina

Food AND airplanes? Count me in!

Maybe we could get a group together to head over to McGeHee Catfish for a late lunch / early dinner?

                Lunch/dinner

I'm in, just understand that my ultralight will only do 80-85,
so don't outrun me with your "fast" 100 MPH T-crafts. I'll bring the BC65 to La Grange, but because I'm a member of this surplus engine group, I'll be bringing my ultralight to Bowie, then it's back to El Paso to pick up the Taylorcraft for the Alliance Fly-in the
                following weekend. Sabrina

I'll slow my 110mph Tcraft down. Heck, I prefer flying low and slow anyway. It would be neat to overrun the restaurant runway with Tcrafts and Ultralights.
