    Joel, I recently installed a new 72-40 wood prop on a BC12d. I dont see much difference from a standard 72-42. I sent you a pm .

Maybe I'm nit picking, but a particular pitch is neither approved nor disapproved for the BC12-D. Any pitch that meets the static RPM limits is approved; any pitch that does not is not. Maybe he meant that the 40 is known to meet the static limits.

        John,

Yes, perhaps you're nit-picking but thanks for upholding the accuracy of the archival record here. Yes, the approved prop parameters on the Type Certificate deal only with diameter and rpm ranges, and the Sensenich guy meant that the 40-pitch prop also falls within those rpm limits.

My throttle was at idle when the prop hit the turf. I'm hoping there was no damage to the engine, and that a dial indicator test on the prop flange would suffice to rule out crankshaft damage, but if the insurance company is willing to pay for an engine teardown and rebuild...

Besides, removing the engine and mount gives me a chance to clean up the firewall and baffles.
