  • Rib stuff and forming question

view a rib from broadside and you see the holes (for reducing weight) and if you look just a little closer, around that hole is an indentation (name?) designed to stiffen the hole.

Assume for a moment you have to rebuild a portion of the rib which contains
20* of one of those indentations. How do I form that indentation? build a wood form and beat the metal around it? - Mike

Build a wooden tool and die set with a bolt through it. Maple works well. Punch the hole, put the dies in place and tighten the bolt.

OK, I missunderstood the question. 20* is 20 degrees.... For that a forming block and a mallet is probably the best way.
