  • Clarke sandblaster gun?

Has anyone had experience using the Clarke sandblaster gun (looks like a spraygun; holds about a quart of abrasive)?

    Syphon type.

When I first got this compressor we discussed the need for removing moisture from the air stream. Does this also apply when spraying abrasive?

Seems to give a heavy stream of abrasive then peter out; gotta keep shaking the pot. May also need to keep it at greater 90 PSI.

    Your experience? - Mike

Mike, I have a sand blaster that uses a hose with a siphon tube that just sticks down into a bucket of sand. If I don't have a filter/water collector in the line it will just spit out a drip of water and sand mixed ever so often. I did not find it to be a problem. It might be different elsewhere, as the humidity is pretty low here in the summer.

Hi Mike, When it's humid I've had the sand pack up in the gun and clog it, not to mention introducing water to fresh metal.. Get a filter/ water collector at the farm store,(you'll need it when you start painting anyway). My set up sounds similar to Darryl's.

A Basic water filter in the system after the compresor is needed no mater what you do with the air. Put one at your point of hock up for the tools.
        Basic system requiement.
A casgolating filter ( My Spelling) is a 99% waterremoving filter and is recomended before a paint gun. Expensive BUT GOOD!

Len - built a coalescing filter out of 8' of 1 1/2 ID pipe but hadn't had a chance to use it until this afternoon. Was sandblasting. I got about 3 Tablespoonsful out when I vented the pressure out the bottom; that after only a few minutes work. - Mike
