  • "The Bend at the Cluster" and other stories.

A close look at my cluster (for you folks who stopped in the lobby and bought popcorn and came in in the middle, I'm talking about a semi-rotten cluster on the pax side, lower longeron; where 5(?) seperate tubes meet the lower longeron) shows that going aft about 6", the tubing changes diameter and it appears to take a gentle heading change towards the a/c centerline. Since one of my options is to replace the longeron, we're now talking about introducing another diameter of tubing and introducing a bend.

How do I introduce that bend?

I could build a simple jig which would hold both size tubing and probably have enough slack to weld that bend in place, but I'm looking for easier/other suggestions. - anyone? - Mike (thinking )
