  • alternative source for brake cable pulleys

The source I get my aerial camera mount parts from also happens to have pulleys that appear to be the exact size for our brake cable pulleys. Better yet, they have ball bearings instead of bushings.

    1.063" O.D.
    .25" thickness
    3/16" bore

They are for 3/32" cable but may be able to run 1/8". We are replacing our cables now. Going back to 3/32" cable. I know many of you switched to 1/8" but I just don't like how tight the 1/8" cable feels when routed around tight radiuses.

The pulleys are less than $6 each here:

I'll have them Wednesday and will be able to confirm if they are a direct fit.

got the pulleys in today and they are great. The bearing is smooth running. almost exact size. About 1/16" wider diameter and 1/16" thicker. They say only for 3/32" cable but 1/8th would clearly work as well.

Pullies with ball bearing needs more attention like anything with ballbearing need in comparinsion to sleev / bushing bearings.A bushing can handle drirt, dust, and corrosion better when the ball bearing and still turning, there a ball bearing may not turn at all. Sloppy put still turns!
