I went to a seaplane fly-in at Grand Marais, MI on Lake Superior This weekend....I flew along the nearby Pictured Rocks and landed at Grand Island near Munising. I thought you guys would enjoy these pictures

Hey Dan nice pics.

Now I want to go flying and I haven't even opened my hanger door this year.

On a side note, check out Mead Float . I may buy a set of their 1430's and see how I make out. I'm still on the fence though as time is at an all time premium this year. Work and family pretty much take up all my time .

Thanks for posting the pic, Dan! I grew up near Ishpeming. We camped out on the north shore of Grand Island one time and explored the sand dunes near Grand Marais. Always enjoyed the Lake. Would be awesome to fly it!

I was born in Ishpeming...I work at UPPCO....my office is in Ishpeming. We moved to Ontonagon when I was young and I grew up there. Nice to hear from a fellow Yooper.

Dan,

Now ya got me curious....there is absolutely NO direct way between Iron River and Ishpeming. Do you go up the Bates/Amasa Rd or over to 141? We are going to be back up your way end of July-ish on cycles to explore more of the Yellow Dog Prairie and Huron Mtns. My brother found a rugged section of the Triple-A that we want to attempt this year. Remember this COLD scene?

Looks chilly for motorcycle riding....

On the commute thing.....I supervise all Subststion Construction and Transmission line maint for all of UPPCO...Ishpemeing is where my physical office is....I'm usually in the truck or on a job site.....and its 75 miles by going to Crystal Falls, Sagola, through Republic, turn right at Koski corners...and into Ishpeming.
