  • A-75

My friend has an A-75 engine for sale on Barnstormers. A copy of his ad is below. He and I were discussing the A-75 and have differing opinions about it. What do you guys say? The question is; is the A-75 engine a "certified" engine? Or is it just not certified for the Taylorcraft?

He claims he has a FACTORY dataplate that has A-75 stamped into it.

If any of you are interested in it, here is his ad.

    Richard,
The FAA registry says the engine on 46TC is an A&C75 series.
Thought I might see you at the Fly-In at Sonoma, hope all is well with you and the new wife.

      Vincent,

I took my wing tanks out many months ago, then my airline went out of business. I was busy with the new airline getting typed down in Miami so I didn't have time to put the wing tanks back in. Now the second airline has gone under and I stay busy looking for a job and doing honey doos. I plan on having it all back together within the next couple of weeks. I really missed going down this year, maybe next year.

There is a TCDS for an A75 so its a certificated engine.

The tcraft type cerificate (A696) has no listing for a 75 hp engine of any kind, a or c prefix.

Seems like many years ago N46TC while in Medford, OR had an O-200 in it, and before that it was a C-85 for a short while, as I remember, T.t.

            You are correct, Sir!
46TC does have an O-200 in it now.....or more correctly sitting beside it in the garage. It was converted to a Model 19 with the 85 and shortly after to the O-200.

It's dismantled for rebuild now, but I just can't find the time to work on it. A shame, it's a great bird and a real performer with the "big" engine in it.

            Richard,
Sorry to hear about your job woes.....kinda the world we live in right now. I run a Chev dealership, so I know well how the economy is affecting much of our lives. Best of luck to you.
