  • Uploading MS WORKS document

I'll try to get this correct this time. I wrote up a document in MS works (.wps) concerning a warning about theTaylorcraft company, but WORKS cannot be uploaded to this forum. Do I have to type it over in Word or is there some other way?

Problem is most people dont have a tool that can display a .wps formated file.

Can you save it in .rtf, pdf, or even .txt format?

Maybe save it in My Pictures as a .jpg or print it out, scan it in and then save as .jpg or something similar. As you can tell I am not a geek so I can screw up almost any file if give enough time!

        Re: Uploading MS WORKS document

I just took a shot at converting it in my MS office word processor. The method is there except that I didn't convert over when the demo that came with the computer ran out. You know, as in, make Bill Gates even richer. Can only view files there now. That's the craps, I can't even type it over in that format. Probably couldn't even email to someone given the way MS controls everything. Is there a printed document version of Photobucket?

Good thought Bob. Let me check .pdf.

Save it as a plain text file out of Works. Put it on a disk, a "flash drive" or e-mail it somewhere. Then open it in a computer that has MS Word. Save it as a .doc file in Word. You can upload it then.

Why don't you just highlight the whole document, then copy and paste it into the body of your message?

                Re: Uploading MS WORKS document

This is so weird that it is funny. I go through all the process that MS requires to download a 60 day trial version of MS office. Like they now know everything about me except my girlfriend's sexual preferences, LOL. Talk about a bunch of paranoid control freaks. So I get all finished and transfer the document from Works to MS word and what does it do--it gives me a file suffix type of .docx. .docX ! Of course, not acceptable here.

Thanks for the input, I had thought of some of the same ones since yesterday. I rather wanted to keep it in a nice form, the way it was composed, and not all cobbled up some way.
Taking it on flash to my friend's business may be best at this point. I'll keep at it. Microsoft sure is weird.

Ah, what the heck, I just pasted it as suggested. I'll get it back to a pretty document later.

                    Re: Uploading MS WORKS document

docx is there recent and incompatible format for word documents. Thanks Microsoft.

You are right, incompatible and oddball file formats are not accepted here.

Fire up MS Word, open your document, and then click save-as and pick the word 98 .doc format that the rest of the world can mostly read. That format is accepted on the forum.

There is no sense in uploading files in formats that the majority of the members of the forum cant read.
