  • some fun stories to tell

so last week I flew 43122 about 7 hours. Took it out every day after work for about 1.5 hours each day. Flew it out into the desert low and slow just putzing around taking in the scenery and great weather. Windows were open and the air was crisp.

About a half hour into one of my flights I happened to notice a glint of light reflect into my eye. Being in the middle of the desert I found it odd so I decided to fly over and take a looksie.

When I got closer I could make out that it was a late model silver Ford F-150 crewcab 4x4. It was run up into a Palo Verde tree and there were some ruts in the dirt behind the rear tires. Looked like the truck had been out romping around in the wet dirt. it had rained a few days before. I dropped down to about 100' and circled. I was curious about the truck and wanted to make sure there wasn't a body in it or anything like that. I noticed the windows were down (or broken out) and thought that to be strange. I mean.. if you got your truck stuck in the desert and had to leave it wouldn't you roll up the windows?

So I took some GPS coordinates down and continued on my pleasure ride.

That night I called the police dept. for the area (Indian Reservation as it happens). They were glad to take down the info and told me there had been a silver Ford F-150 stolen a few days before.

Then the next day I was flying between Casa Grande and Chandler and noticed a car on the side of the road in the desert. I thought... "geez, another stolen car maybe?" I flew over closer and dropped down to a couple hundred feet to take a closer look. I circled for about a half a minute and how about this! there was a woman about 75' from the car bent down by a small scrub brush taking a pee! AHAHA! Here I was just a couple hundred feet over and she's flailing her arms at me. All I could do was laugh and move along...

On the way home to the airport I thought to myself how incredibly funny it would have been if I had a roll of TP I could have tossed out at her! And think of it from her point of view if that had happened... here you are in the middle of the desert taking a pee by a scrub brush and from the sky drops a roll of TP.... like manna from heaven.

Sure was fun last week... those days help take away the NASTY sting of the $8500 annual fiasco I just went through.

Thats funny! It reminds me of a flight several years ago with a friend flying over a state forest. It was miles of all trees until we saw a small clearing with a pickup parked. We saw movement flew down circled & there was a couple going to town making love in the back of the truck. I bet they were surprised!

Dammit Eric....I've always wondered who that was......kidding,lol. You'll love this one. I was about 18 or so and was out skinny dipping with my high school sweatheart(I had been out of town and we hadn't seen each other in a couple weeks). We went to an old rock quarry where we all used to go when we were still in school. To get to the water you either walk a long way around the rim of the pit or you jump off a 30' cliff into the deep water filled pit, then a short swim of 100' or so would put you in waist deep water perfect for wading or whatever. Anyway,we left our clothes topside not thinking anyone was within 5 miles of us. After most of the later half of the morning, all afternoon and almost dark we decided to go grab our clothes and head for town to get some much needed food and socialize with friends. Once we reached the car we realized that we had no clothes.....never did figure out who got them. Anyway, I was driving a Trans am with the T-tops out of it(left them at home) and like an idiot I decided to rush through town hoping nobody would see us or try to stop me to chat.......yeah I did get pulled over. The police man knew both of us very well and probably just pulled me over to shoot the bull or pick on me. He walks up to the window and starts laughing his ass off. After trying to tell him what happened he just kept laughing harder until he was in tears and having trouble catching his breath. Now,it does get worse. My aunt an uncle drove by,knowing the police man and my car he decided to stop and see if everything was ok since the officer was literally slumped over the drivers side trunk of my car in tears trying to catch his breath. Anyway, this lead to my uncle joining in the laughter(he still makes fun of me over that) and my aunt Charlene finding an old blanket and giving it to Paula(my date & first wife) to cover up with. After all of this I THEN SEEN MY MOTHER drive by on her way home from work. When I seen her turning around is when I nailed the gas on my T/A and left everyone standing by the road! Of course my mother did find out what was going on.....my dad got a big kick out of it and my mother kept asking me over and over if I used proper protection I did but that's embarressing
