  • F19 Window Installation

I am currently sanding about 200+ (no exagaration) hail dings out of my plane and also doing many repairs to the fabric. After it's all said and done I am going to reprime and paint. I would like to install F19 rear windows. Can this be done on a coverd plane? I am doing so mutch patching and painting that I was wondering if I could cut them in and tape them off?

We installed ours by making tabs, and screwing them into the stringers, so they did not need any welding. I will post some pics today or tomorrow. Ours is not covered, but there is no welding to be done. To answer your other post we bought ours from the factory this past summer, and they even shipped them to me! It was like a real business. Anyway, they are quite simple, and if you can find a drawing they can probably be made.

Try a simpler version like this:

Here is how we did it. Just SS screws, steel cuffs around the tubes, and some AN bolts. The only problem with the F19is the bar. Ours are two pieces an inside and an outside. You are only seeing the outside. You would have to do some additional cutting to the frame to get it around the tube from the inside.

I have a tab welded in the window area where the vertical and the diagonal tube intersect. Is this a mounting tab for the smaller D windows? It looks like It would work for them. The factory lists the frames in stock. Has anybody had any luck contacting them? I call a couple times a week and never have gotten a person to answer the phone? Help?

Dano, how are your windows fastend to the fuse? Are thoes the orignal style window? Off the window topic but I saw a picture in your gallery of your plane with new rear float struts that appeared to be longer. Are you playing with your deck angle? I am going to adjust mine this spring but I am going to increace it. I'me on 1320's and the plane just sticks to the water to mutch. I can't just rotate for liftoff without dragging my heels I have to POP the plane off the water. I see you are on Bowmans but have you experinced this with the Edo's.

Those struts you mention were while we were testing Baumanns for certification....we tried several lengths and found the rear struts needed to be shorter....The tail sits low, but I can rotate off the water easily. My plane had Edo's but...the rear struts were too long making takeoff difficult. Here is a video of a glassy water takeoff I did.

I think I am going to drill a new hole in in the bottom of my rear struts and just drop it down one bolt hole. It sounds like that may help. By the way, do you know of any propellors out there? All I've got now is a Mac 1B90 70-46, I need more length and less pitch. At this point anything longer would be a big improvement.
