Hey Dano, are those custom welded one-off doors, or are those stock T-craft doors, or STC'd drop in replacements???

They look great!

I have a pre-war airplane and I'd like to put in something like what you have, but I don't want to tear up my existing doors.

They were on the plane when I bought it....only one side was covered...the inside had exposed tubing....I'm not really sure if they are the real deal or homemade. Um....let's say they are original since it doesn't say anything in the logs...so...yes, they are stock doors with the fabric cut out and Lexan panels riveted in.....They are great. I think you can just take a razor and remove the fabric and put these on instead. My 1940 bird has the same doors...and I'm doing it to those.

Love those doors Dan,I've always wanted some like this I might need to keep my stock ones for visits to the inspection authorities.

Nice pics Dano,nice doors too. Many of the pre-war birds had the steel tube doors like that.The out side framework is rolled steel.If you look closely at the flat lip that goes all the way around the outer part of your door you will notice that it has no weld joint....that's becasue there is not one,the flat lip is the same piece of steel as the tubing. Most of these doors are fabric coverd but I have seen a couple that have been metalized.

The door on KZU are aluminum framed can they be dune up with plexy glass as well? Would I need a STC?
I think I seen pictures there the metal has been cut out and a metal rim is left around the plexi.

There was an approved 337 already in the plane's records....Someone must have done this before, but when they recovered it in 1999 they did the doors in fabric....but only on the outside. I just put back in what was listed on the 337. I would advise using Lexan though.....much stronger. Plexi will crack and will yellow easily. I just riveted the lexan pieces into place using the holes that we already drilled in the doors. I then peaned over the back side of the rivets and away we go. I really like it....if I had a skylight...that would really open things up.

I suppose next your going to want the floats that were suppose to be on that airplane. Can't wait until spring to try them out.

Na Joe...I'll just put my Baumanns on this plane.....You can keep the 1420's Bud made for it on your new ride.....We do need to get together this summer though for some float flying fun.

It will be very interesting to compare the O-200 with a 74-41 prop and the bigger floats against your ride? I assume you are runnig a C90?

Yes...the pictured plane has the C90....the one I had on floats the last few seasons was my C85 powered BC12D....I'm putting the floats on this one this year for something different....we can do a real world comparison between the C90 and the O-200 then....I have a Sensenich 76AK-2-40 on this ship. I expect a 927lb EW with floats installed on this plane.
