I fly a similar airplane -- Also, I wear classic suits. SO, there's nothing "old" looking about these ads. Instead they're just quite up to date, for me at least. Thanks Buell! WIth regards; ED OBRIEN

Hi Buell, thanks for sharing this. From time to time I have been able to buy some of the old advertisements off of ebay for a good price and then scan them at a high resolution and post them on the Foundation photo gallery (http://gallery.taylorcraft.org).

I would like to add this one and any others you have if thats ok with you. Could you scan it again at 300dpi?

Hi Bob,
I found the ad pictures in a listing on e-bay for the brochure and saved them to my pictures and sent them-the listing is still there. I have one of the brochures somewhere that I got from Tom Baker about 15 years ago. I have some Taylorcraft Ads in some Western Flying magazines from the 40's and some pictures of my Dad's 41 Deluxe that were taken in 41 or 42. I don't have a scanner but I can get everything together and take them to my Dad's when we go for a visit in April and scan them and you are welcome to use anything you would like. If you will send me a PM I can see how best to get them to you. By the way the 41 that my Dad had is NC36042-just wondering if anyone might have it now.
Ed-is your plane a 41 also?

My DC-65 is finished exactly like the one pictured, and is a great airplane. Production would be more expensive than the Cub, (more complicated) and you would have to acquire aluminum spars. But 100 HP would make it a fline performing airplane. Just a dream, I'm afraid.

Could you PLEASE E-mail me the photo of the Taylorcraft next to the United Airlines DC-3? If you have been following the baffeling thread, you know what UAL means to me and why. I never got to fly for United, and that will ALWAYS be an empty spot in my heart. I would load it into my hard drive, and set it up as my desktop wall paper. Brie

But where would we be without dreams, Chet. We never would have had the desire to fly.
Some of the pilots at the local airport where I'm rebuilding the Israeli warbird say that I have bitten off more than I can chew, that I'll die of old age before it can be finished.
I don't care, I'm going to build it anyway, and when it sits on a WARBIRD line at S-N-F, I want to see what they say. Brie

Hi Chet,
While were dreaming I'll take a retro 41 Deluxe with an 0200 and a skylight . I don't even care about a starter or hyd brakes. Ohh I guess a Radio would be nice too. Actually I really like the original little 65 just fine. Ordered some struts this morning(not that mine are bad but just wanted to end the AD) and it sure will be nice to be legal again!

I have come to the conclusion that I have a 41 Deluxe but will need a nose bowl with trim as I now have a standard, with the thin grills, but the cowl is the Deluxe with the chrome trim, banjo wheels, right wing tank, two metal doors, cute pants (do not know if they are original or not, do not care!), and the two piece suspension panel.

working in the advertising business daily, I really appreciate those ads. and to think they did it all with traditional "cut & paste" methods.

My "day job" is as a motion graphics artist/animator for television spots. I enjoy seeing the layout and fonts and such on these old ads.

I'd give anything to have been able to live 60 years ago instead of today.... although not having my iphone and internet would be like death to me

Likely as not the people in the T-craft ads are dead... but the airplanes are likely still flying. This airplanes were expected to last for 20-25 years. The people 3 to 4 times as long. You can't never tell how things are going to work out, can you? With regards; Ed O'Brien

I have several old ads for T craft, one showing a businessman in a snappy suit and dress hat, briefcase, striding towards his 65 hp BC12D to keep an important "business meeting". If this isn't REAL old,I don't know what is. And...I agree the engine should have been AT LEAST an 85 hp. JC
