We just received our tail fittings for our L-2M project. They came out nice! We needed one of the A-1148 brackets to begin the welding of our aft longerons and could not find any. We had Bill Goebel of Vintage Aircraft Services fabricate some for us. They lofted the part on CAD then laser cut them from 4130 .100 plate. After building a form die the parts were hot formed to final configuration. They have a limited quantity for sale as "owner produced parts". We only purchased two ($32 plus shipping), one to be used for our welding repairs and the other for "just in case"... If there is interest let me know and I'll send contact info. The people at Vintage Aircraft Services are good guys and a pleasure to deal with.

Re: A-1148 brackets for L-2M Project
David, I have a new tail spring bracket that I bought years ago from the factory. It still has the PMA tag on it as supplied. The invoice was for $42 plus shipping. Anyone needing this bracket can contact me on this site. Your new "owner supplied" parts look just like originals. Original invoice comes with the part. Thanks. N96175

Re: A-1148 brackets for L-2M Project
Actually these parts are a bit better than the original. The original parts are 1025 steel and rather soft. The ship we have in repair has a bracket that looks like a potato chip.
The 4130 parts are much more stout and prevent the clampup from getting loose due to metal stretching. If you are contemplating any aft lower longeron repairs on your aircraft you will be way ahead by installing a new bracket.
We are also in the process of tooling up for spoiler components on this ship if you require any parts. PM us with your needs Taylorcraft or otherwise.Bill
