Re: Call From Factory...
man it sure would be great if there were some people down there taking over who know how to run a business. Lord knows Harry is a complete businessman failure. I sure hope this rumor is true.DJ Vegh

Re: Call From Factory...
I also got a call today from Steve wanting to know if I wanted to order struts. I had talked to Harry to put my name on the list way back when the AD came out. One week later I tried to call several times without success to cancel, so I sent an e-mail and told them to take my name off the waiting list. Now today months later, the call to see if I wanted to order? Sure glad I didn't wait on them.

Forrest:
When you visit with Scott & Steve at Taylorcraft could you ask or mention
to them about the past orders. Do they have a good current list of folks that
ordered the SK-100 kit, and preferably the ones that paid. If they don't
then I'll need to send my documentation.
Also are they going to be contacting the past customers, or do we need to
contact them? I did send an email this morning. and will attempt to call
Monday

What would make anyone think Harrys is a poor businessman. He is a
cheat pure and simple. Don't give him credit for being a businessman
of any sort. Even poor businessmen don't aim to cheat folks.L Fries

I haven't been to Brownsville yet, but today I talked with Dick Smith at our EAA chapter 595 meeting. Dick had worked for Mr. Taylor in Alliance years ago. Dick also said he got his private license at Barber airport years ago.
Anyway, Dick visted Taylorcraft and Harry this past Friday (Feb 1) Dick says Harry has not yet made that first strut. He says they have a lot of 4130 tubing, but I guess have not figured out how to make them yet.
It sure is crazy that they claim to be the source for struts and can't make them! Dick owns, I think, an F21 and had his struts checked at San Antonio.
Dick says that Harry has 4 or 5 people working there.
When I get down there, I'll let you know.
Larry Wheelock, N96179 to be re-built, Located winters at Raymondville, TX, XS56, (40 N of Brownsville),flying Stinson and Mooney, A&P, IA, bought my first T-Craft in 1964 for $850, flew it 5 years, 500hrs, and sold for $1200 in '69. Biggest mistake I ever made!

Re: Call From Factory...
Larry: I was glad to see your post about Dick Smith. Several years ago I had a cabin at South Fork, Co. and Dick lived up near Creede, about 15 miles from me. When I heard he owned a Taylorcraf t and kept it up at the Creede airport, approx. field elevation of 9000 ft. He invited me to go flying with the next day which I did. The mtns. around the area are about 12,000 ft. It was interesting to do stalls at that altitude. What a great guy with a great story of his Taylorcraft early days experience, even drawing out potential designs on the factory floor with chalk. Ask him about his design of his Mercury airplane with the intention of trying to sell it to the military as a WWII trainer. He has a long story to tell and it needs to be documented.
I no longer have the cabin and I don't know if he still has his or not. Is he still flying? Thanks.

Re: Call From Factory...
I also got a response from Scott down in Brownsville. I guess Forrests's report is corrrect, these folks are there and trying to put the mess back together, I really think that Scott and his party there are going to fix it. Who knows what the hell Harrys was or is doing. Jezzz, as Larry quoted
Harry hasn't made the first set yet?? wooooo, and my struts were to ship on Oct 10th 2007 were finished, out and out lie. Anyway, things are looking up. Below is a copy of my correspondence
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
James,
We are currently here in Brownville trying to get a grasp on what has occurred with this strut situation and Taylorcraft. We will be following up with people in the up coming days or weeks pending on how many people are being affected by what's happened. We still do not have any real answers yet besides the fact that we have placed the order for materials and it will be 3-4 weeks before we can get them shipped to the factory. We are working as rapidly as possible to evaluate what can happen moving forward. Please be patient with us as we try to resolve this issues and get people asnwers.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation,

-------------- Original message from "James Stalllings": -----
Mr Steve Cooner:
Steve, rumor has it that you folks may be helping with the mess in Brownsville.? I sure hope this is true. I sent an email
this morning notifing who ever is there, that I have an order there that has been paid for since Oct 8th 2007, and am wondering if that is or would still be on record? Its anyones guess what Harry did with any of that, other than spend the money I sent. Can you check? and if you folks are going to do this, can you let me know where I might be in the "CUE"
I would prefer to have my money returned, but if that isn't an option then at least get my parts as promissed.
Please let me know so I can plan accordingly: P.S. PICTURE OF MY INVOICE IS ATTACHED VIA .JPG FILE
Thanks for your help on this

Re: Call From Factory...
Sincerely, I'm not trying to stir the pot in this post, or piss off anyone, but there is a question that needs to be answered publicly by D&E Aircraft, now more than ever.
Why has D&E Aircraft not stepped forward and announced what their relationship with Taylorcraft was/is... and what reason can they give for not saying anything until this point?
An answer along the lines of ... "we had no idea that there was a problem, or that Harry Ingram was unable and unwilling to do business legitimately" will not fly with me and it should not fly with you guys. There is very very little chance that anyone involved in Taylorcraft airplanes or parts does not know what has been going on, and the number of people who are questioning anything in Brownsville.
I'm having trouble thinking of any legitimate answer OTHER than "we just bought into the company last week". From what I've heard they have been involved for some time, which is why the question above is so important to resolve before we jump on any new bandwagons.
I REALLY do hope that D&E are good guys, and straight shooters, and not in cahoots with or supportive of Harry on any level. If that is true, I will support them sincerely. But IMHO they have GOT to know that the situation they are stepping into will require them to make some bold and fully backed up statements distancing themselves from what has gone on before.Taylorcraft : Making Better Aviators for 75 Years... and Counting

P.S. Back on subject. The Guys down at D&E have a pretty good reputation and I know they are t-craft folks. I have always known them to be good honest people who are good for thier word. Let's see what they can do and NOT blame them for someone elses actions, nor should we try to slader Harry threw them.Kevin Mays

Re: Call From Factory...
These are just ramblings but....
If D&E is so great, why is Harry still there?
And, did anyone notice that one person in these previous posts heard from someone else that they have the material to make struts (even tho' Harry lied about having any built and ready to ship) and then in a supposed e-mail FROM the factory and someone at D&E, that material still needs to be ordered?!
Still more confusing BS, and if Harry is still involved (oh come on....hasn't he passed his ninth life?) can it ever be construed as an honest business?
As I said quite a while ago, they WILL ship a few sets of struts, get everyone back on the "we must support the factory" bandwagon, and then go into hiding again. Classic Harry Ingram.

There's a saloon in some dusty old West town. A sign on the saloon says the following:
"We've had a lot of trouble with rustlers in here lately. If ye' come in here, ye' best say who yer' ridin' with and what yer' business is, or else we'll just assume yer' ridin' with that rustler or that yer' a friend of his, to protect ourselves. Sorry, we don't mean no offense, but that damn rustler's done made everyone kinda prickly... If ye' comes through these doors and ye' doesn't say who you be, ye' may be shot full o' lead 'fore ye' belly up to the bar. The longer ye' don't say nothin', the more nervous the patrons'll be gittin' "
