  • Hello Everybody

Hi, I am the proud new owner of T-Rex and have been a forum visitor and observer since I purchased this great little bird. Many questions that I've had have already been asked and answered. This is a great resource for info. on these old planes. At the moment T-Rex is down for the annual and it is turning out to be quite involved but we should be flying again in about a month. I haven't flown her on wheels yet but I am very anxious. I just wanted you all to know T-Rex is alive and well. This is about a month after the hail storm, our first flight together.

      Re: Hello Everybody

HI , I do remember Fred & T-Rex's first landing at Barber
Wow was that a ride for him, this year I will do more on floats , that really looks great. feel free to e-mail me direct about old T-Rex , he-she had quite a past. All airplanes are female to me , but T-Rex ?? I guess there had to be female dinosaurs.

We sruggled with the male or female thing to. But in the end, despite the manly name we had to call her a she. But girls can be tough to, and I just seem to like them even more. Hay Crispy what can you tell me about the Aeronca exhaust instaled on her.

            Re: Hello Everybody

It's rusty on the tips and the heater ain't worth a shit. I never could find any paperwork on it but if you decide to replace it I recommend going with Luscombe 8E or 8F exhaust. Much better heater, much better looking, and I have a copy of a 337 approval if you need it. Take good care of her and she will take good care of you.She really is a sweet old bird.

              Re: Hello Everybody

I just replaced it with the same Aeronca stuff from Univare. I wasen't shure what to replace it with, and looked at a lot of stuff. This seemed like the easiest fix for now. I doubt this will last for more than a few years, ha ha. Will the Luscomb exhaust fit through the exhisting holes in the cowl? Is it the same powder coated mild steel? And don't worry, I'me giving her some well deserved and needed attention. After I repair all of the hail damage we'll se how she does on wheels.

The luscombe exhaust will not fit the same holes as the aeronca,it come out farther back. In fact the right side exhaust stack(co-pilots side) will exit in the original t-craft exhuast hole and then you have to make another hole for the left.Like here....http://gallery.taylorcraft.org/main.php?g2_itemId=8704
