Linseed oil in my struts

I know it has already been covered, but how are you supposed to inject linseed oil in the frount struts when there is only a tiny drain hole near the bottom few inches of the strut. Are you supposed to drill a hole in the upper part of the strut and reseal it , or are you supposed to try and get it in the tiny hole near the bottom of a good strut . Any help N94961

use the hole at the top where it attaches to the wing spar fitting

Walter, are you working with an A&P ?

I have about 120hrs on the Cub since May when I bought it. Between moving back to Washington, A month in France, and starting my own Repair shop there has not been enough time or money to get out and really play much. Thankfully there is a lot of fun places to go locally so when I get a chance to break away for a short flight at-least it's not boring.

RE oiling of struts...... egads we have beat this to death.
IF the struts are not sealed then they are OPEN at the top. Have someone hold their finger over the drain hole or plug it for a bit, pour in a measured amouint of oil, perhaps heat it you can feel it work that way. I have been removing the struts , doing the ( ndt) x-ray then sloshing them. We used to "fog" from the bottom with WD-40 then LPS-2 in the past.

For what its worth, I linseed oiled mine about 10 years ago.

For what seemed like months after the oiling drops of oil would come out the drain hole during flight and spray down the side of the a/c.

If you don't wipe if off it turns black.

Be prepared to clean from a while afterwards.
