It's a different project but some of the parts came from you guys. Mostly the rare hard to find stuff.

    Forrest,
My Dad was born in 1921 started flying in the 30's as an instructor-went into the war training program and is still flying at 86. He had a 41 T/craft Deluxe the same color as mine in 1941 and loves to fly mine(and is very good at it. So I bet you have a very long way to go yet.
    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
    Buell and Phyllis Powell

I have socks older than most of you! NEVER thought I would say that to anybody. Oh well now I have to look foreward to rolling around the airport in my wheel chair, with a big warm lap robe, pixxing myself every15 mins. Born 11-10-42 , solo 11-10-58, most time off without flight was 12 days when I broke my right leg...... bye off to pick up my 89 yr old Aunt Virginia, she was not happy that I could not get her on the Goldwing. :yahoo:

    Re: First flight!

I think I have to chime in here, I’m 32 and when I got “Anna” (BC12-D) in 1999, I was only 24. It took all the money I had and a loan from my folks to come up with the $10,500 to buy her. I had about 20 hours in rented 172’s and I was so happy to get to love and take care of a beautiful plane such as her. she had been owned by five others before who had added a lot of paint and oil over the years. After about a year and a half of flying her it was time to wash her face. I rebuilt her motor with the best parts I could find. I striped the paint fabric forward and replaced her struts. All and all, it took us almost 4 years. Now she has her own hanger and gets flown regularly. I have taken her out for some 800 mile trips and my dream is to take her down south to brazil (lots of open land and fun pilots).

I believe I will be flying her my whole life. I have a commitment to her like no other.

By the way, at every small town airport you land there will be a guy over 70 who will tell you how he escaped death in a Taylorcraft and what a good plane you have.

    Keep smiling,

    Jonathan

That's neat, I would like to see some pictures when you are done.

I took my check ride in a 1948 Cessna 170 with Al Passel at Sporty's. He told me if I ground looped him then I would probably fail.LOL
