  • Calling Terry Bowden(STC)

    Terry;
    I up gunned my engine 6 months ago (C-85/o-200 crank
    Dream Machine in a L2A) and I've been waiting for the 337's to be signed off by Wichita FSDO. I called the FAA the other day and they're waiting on your STC, I think... which is holding me up, I guess. Not that it is your fault and or your responsibility but there is a "preiminent STC coming along." Which I'm assuming is your's. Please let me know when you're expecting approval and when the STC will be ready to sell. How much? Put me in line. Where do I go stand in line? What's your address?
    With regards and best wishes; ED OBRIEN

    I know it's a dumb thing to post a reply to your own message. BUT, I'd still like to hear from Terry and so I'm refreshing this thread. Ed O'Brien ((((/303&871-9005/))

      Re: Calling Terry Bowden(STC)

      Ed,
      Hi. Sorry for slow response I haven't been on this forum much lately. The STC application went in 3 weeks ago. I have not made a big deal about it over the internet, because I was planning to put the word out when the STC is in hand. However, I already have a list of 6 people waiting on me to finish this thing. Send me your address, airplane model & serial #s, engine specifics, prop model, starter - generator desires, and I will add you to my list.

      Here's the status: Waiting on the ACO to issue a project #. They have already assigned me the same engineer I worked with last spring to obtain the one-time STC. I have spoken with her within the last week. She said I should have a project number within a few days. I have the entire data package ready for submittal when I get the number, I will mail it in. Based on prior discussions and response last spring, I believe I have addressed all of the concerns. My proposed eligibility is for option of A75, C75, C85, C90, or O-200A (and also the C85 with O-200 crank per STC # SE00979AT). I have addressed structures concerns for all of these engine models using the original engine mount and no structural changes. The STC will specify either -8 or -12 engine configurations. And the following models are included: DC-65 (Army L-2, L-2C), DL-65 (Army L-2D), DF-65 (Army L-2E), and DCO-65 (Army L-2A, -2B, -2M). I think the biggest thing we may haggle over are propeller options. I have not attempted to increase fuel capacity, but may try to get that done on a later revision of drawings. Anyway.... I hope to have the STC in hand by the end of January, allowing for the holidays.

      Ed, if you wish to talk specifics such as propeller model or starters, etc.. please send me an email at [email protected]. Or give me a call this weekend 254-715-4773.

        Ed,
        Is your airplane at the El-Dorado, KS Airport being restored by Dave Wiebe?

          Re: Calling Terry Bowden(STC)

          Terry;
          It was restored by Dave. I've got it now. I need the STC to catch up all the paperwork. Dave was out a bunch due to
          a new piece of his body being installed (knee, I think)
          I'll call you soon. With regards; ED OBRIEN

              Re: Calling Terry Bowden(STC)

              Hi Terry,
              I am Gene Balogh @ [email protected]. I own an L-2M with a 65hp continnental engine. I would like to upgrade to an 85 or 100hp and was greatly interested in learning that you are in the STP process for this type upgread. Could you please advise if I am correct in this, and if so, can I purchase a copy of the paperwork (STC) from you. With best wishes, I remain
              GeneB
