    Re: handpropping question

Bob I'm thinking about waiting for wag areo to get their approval and buy new struts.
I have a buddy here on the field with a t-craft and I'll pass the information on to him, and let you know.
Might be a prolem with him getting off of work.

Robbie...I was one of the eddy current compliers...I have a trip to Anchorage next month and will probably bite the bullet and buy a set while I am up there.

        Re: handpropping question

I have my new struts from Airframes all painted and am ready to start getting the wings on and back in the air. My total rebuild has lasted one year as of Nov. 17!! I have three good struts for sale if anyone needs them. They were xrayed and had ultra-sound in St. Louis just over a month ago. Both front and one rear yellow tagged, the red tagged rear is free, $200 each, $600 for all four, plus shipping from Iowa.

I'm waiting for Wag-aero to get their approval, I can drive there and pick them up.
Theirs are J-3 struts made from 4030 steel and will be about $450 each.
          Thats what they tell me.

They tell me within 30 days,
Their paper work here in Milwaukee is completed and has been forward to Texas for AMOC on the AD.
I'm talking to them every week and will post on the forum when it happens.

I ordered a set of 4 from Airframes. You will not find a more professional and helpful shop.

Tailwind Inspection Inc inspected my stuts today, ultrasound, for $225. They are based here in Tulsa and travel all over the United States doing aviation ndt. According to the ndt tech doing my struts they have inspected 4 sets of Taylorcraft struts in the Tulsa area during the last 5 days and have done many more throughout the country. They are an FAA certified repair station and can be contacted at 918-832-0700 or web site http://www.tailwindndt.com/

                            Did your pass?
Did they say if any of the other ones failed.

                              Robbie,

Yes my struts passed. The ndt tech said he didn't think any stuts they have tested were found to have any problems.
