  • fuel tank questions

I searched previous discussions on fuel system venting, and have looked at the Harer STC. As always there are more questions than answers.
Can anyone tell me what the square block on top of the fuel tank is for.
Also, the Harer STC now shows a vent along the top center line 4.5" back from the front as opposed to attached to the filler neck. Does anyone know what size fitting needs to be installed into the tank?
Finally, my fuel tank has a 1/8" fitting installed near the top on the front edge of the tank, could this be used for the vent?

    Re: fuel tank questions

Be more specific as to which airframe is getting what modification. The "square" block to me is the place where the Rochester Fuel guage goes since the front cap will be sealed and you will now use the top fuel vent ala Model 19 & F-19.

      Re: fuel tank questions

It is a BC-12D that I am applying the Harer STC on. I want to end up with the equivalent model 19.

I suspected the square fitting might be for a fuel gauge, thanks for clearing that up. So I do need to have a vent fitting added to the top of the fuel tank?

          Re: fuel tank questions

Thanks for the response Forrest, I emailed you with some questions on membership.

For today, my existing fuel tank doesn't have a vent on top nor at the fuel tank filler neck and it doesn't have the fuel gauge mount either. It does have a vent on the front of the tank near the top. Can someone tell me the size of the fitting that needs to be installed on top of the tank to be compliant with the Harer STC.

          thanks,
