  • rear lift struts question.

My 39BC has a " heavy" right wing. I have been working on getting some bugs out of the rigging, I have just about got her aileron rigging set. But I looked at the rear lift strut and there is no adjustment nut! It looks like someone just drilled through the thredded area of the strut and bolted to the rear spar attach fitting!! I hope that the washout is correct. Does anyone have a good picture of this rear strut adjust set up ? My service manual does not detail this.
    Thanks.

Strange, does the the other rear strut have an adjust sleeve in it?

      Re: rear lift struts question.

Go to the two links I provided below, they are blueprints from the L-2 but should be similar to your strut.

The threads you see are the adjusting sleeve which has a hole through it for the bolt. The strut has an elongated hole so the adjusting sleeve hole is visible as it is adjusted.

Thanks Ron ! It makes sense to me now. Boy do I feel stupid!
If I had removed the attach fitting I would have seen the enlongated hole in the strut. I should forget the way my J-5 was put together. This BC is shure fast compaired to the J-5. I just love my taylorcraft!!
        Thanks for the help !!
