  • Skylight Progress !

For anyone still interested in the soap opera that was/is my skylight project, I got DER approval today at last. This is still a few steps away from a 337 or an STC, but DER approval means that my specific way to do the skylight is approved by someone with the authority to approve it.

Next step is filling out the 337 form with my IA, having him sign off that I did indeed install the skylight according to those newly approved drawings.

After that is done, hopefully the FAA will hand us back a signed and stamped 337 form. That will allow me to have the airplane annualed and returned to service.

After all that is done, I'll ask the DER how much more time, effort, and money it will take to have all this upgraded to a full STC that can be offered to other Taylorcraft owners.
