    Fabric Workshop: Day 2; I are a Graduate!

    Finished up with the Seine knot and learned some shortcuts; can now knot my toes together.
    Was worried about having to turn the wing over and over again by myself; something Jim said reminded me of Rob fuselage and wing jig which does just what I was worried about; use sawhorse at the non-jig end.
    Finishing tape and bias tape; the importance of pre-thinking what the tape application progression will be. Use where the fabric could bang against some structure; how to melt the pinked finishing tape into the fabric
    Grommet holes; use aluminum grommets; Silver dollar sized doilies over the grommets. Location on rudder, ailerons, wings, fuselage; these are for air circulation, not for draining water;
    Inspection holes and the importance of making a sheet of pre-shrunk and PolyFibered fabric waiting on the sideline
    How to determine where to make holes in fabric for the rudder cables
    Got a grasp for local shrinking of the dacron and how to use what I learned- i.e. getting rid of bubbles
    Wing tip bow repair
    Fuel tank repair/removal
    Spraying
    Paint booth
    Furnace filters for Input and output.
    I’m tired, but sure glad I did it. Much more comfortable about what I need to do – feel that I have some control over what’s to be done.
    All for now; gotta do some remedial napping - MikeH

    Mike where did you go? Who put it on? The last time I worked on a fabric plane was "1964" LOL
