  • New Taylorcraft owners

Well...they don't own a "new" Taylorcraft of course.... but they just took delivery of N1199V (s/n 8196), a 1946 BC12D, with the Gilberti STC.
She landed here (my strip in Marion, MT) on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at about 10am. So let's welcome Paul & Ande and their "new" Taylorcraft "Myrna"!

Either Myrna was pregnant, or some sheet metal fell off......

              Re: New Taylorcraft owners

The NACA vent was hooked up to the oil cooler, as a previous owner had a heating problem with the engine before this one. Those bumps are actually some type of plastic, and I have no idea where they came from. They were cleaning and pulling the wonderful insulation out from around pulleys and stuff, so had some of the interior apart, so that's where the sheetmetal is from. Not a bad little plane...and they're as excited as kids, so that makes it alot of fun!

Taylorcraft's do just fine up here Len, especially with the 85. There's one in the valley here that is still owned and flown by the guy that bought it new in 1947, and it's still got a 65 in it...he goes everywhere that the rest of the guys go, albeit faster and with less fuel burn. You might have to pick your times, like morning and evening in the summer, but the Taylorcraft makes a great back country airplane!

                      twadc95,

Nah, if that were Randy Quaid, my wife would make him buy her a Tcraft also.
