  • T-craft finally up again!

Well, after an annual that was supposed to take a couple days that started back in January the T-craft was finally flown yesterday (May 26). Had no major issues, just taking care of some of those items that had been deferred in the past. Mostly a schedule thing on our part but it went longer than it should have. We did change the bungees, welded up a few cracked and missing seat sling brackets and touched up some chipped dope. Also took a closer look at the struts than previous due to some posts expressing concern. (they were fine). Had a leaking exhaust gasket so changed the ones on the left side. Adjusted the flying wires to level out the stabilizer that had not been noticed until we parked it on our new level hangar floor. Overall, it seems good to go for another while and was sure good to be able to fly it again.

Way to go Herman!!! It seems the older you get the longer those "little" jobs seem to take!!!

Congratulations. Mine is about up and running again. I just bought it and the previous owner "forgot" to tell me about the massive oil leak :-) The leak is fixed and all I have to do is put the cowl back on.

BTW, what did you do with your struts? I would like to take a closer look at mine also.

Just did my annual. One day. I've been doing a progressive maintenance thing for a while and it sure worked good. I just do stuff as it comes up throught out the year more or less following a schedule. Filter replace, lube, paint a little. Then I put it down in a note book and transfer it to the log. My AI is cool too, just makes sure the airplane is safe and the records done correctly. I guess I'm pretty lucky to have him available.
I must have done something good to please the gods of flight. LOL

Well, mostly I tapped on them to make sure there was consistently solid metal on the bottom foot or so. I also looked at them closely visually for blisters or other indications of corrosion.

Well got mine flying again on June 9th. Looks different now with red paint like Duane Cole's. Still got the little things to do like install the new Hookers and wheel pants. Seems to be 4-5 mph slower without the pants. Folkston is at Fl/Ga line on US-1 at the big old swamp. Hilliard Airpark is just south of there off US-1 about 8 miles.

ok, I looked up Folkston. Way down there. I haven't ever been to the big swamp. Did they ever get the fires out? We got some rain here yesterday finally. I was up in the Carolinas at the outer banks and Kitty Hawk until earlier this morning. Fishing was lousy but I did plenty anyway. Fed a lot of crabs with our bait and caught a turtle. Other than that we caught one bluefish in the surf (about 10 inches long, ha ha) Caught a few pin fish, one pig fish, one catfish, a few undersize bass, a couple of spots and that was about it. Overall we had a good time of camping with the family. Now someone has to get the van and trailer emptied and hang up the tent and sleeping bags to air out. If I hide here in the office maybe the elves will do it?

We need to maybe start a set of maps of who lives where. Not all of us can fly to the Great Lakes but with two aux tanks any part of GA is in spittin' distance when mine is finally back up. Whenever that is.

                      Bill,

Hopefully it wasn't lost in the last computer glitch but someone put all of the registered Taylorcraft owners on a map. I will see if I can find the thread.
                      Cheers,
                      Marty

I was finally able to load the map, but no Larry! How do I add mine. Just log in and get a pass word? I saw a box to do that but did not go there.
