  • Finally !!!

I have only posted on this site once or twice so I'm pretty much new here. I own a 1960 C-150 that has been converted to a taildragger. I have been hanging around here for quite a will which has helped me with my decision.
After years of contemplating I finally bought a T- Craft. It's a 1946 BC12-D with an 85 horse engine. It's not a project but it will need some work and TLC, may a couple of weeks worth of work. It's in great shape except some landing damage, not a major problem.
Someone once told me you will know when the right plane comes along, I sure did.
I need some pictures of the panel layout and is it possible to find a new panel?
I guess I will join the foundation now.
When I figure out how to post a picture I will. I'm looking forward to getting help and suggestions.

    Re: Finally !!!

    Hi Peter:

I'm new here too! I just bought a 1946 BC12-D a couple of weeks ago also after looking for a year.

I saw a new panel on WWW.Taylocraft.com website today.

      Re: Finally !!!

      Peter,

Attached is a small photo of my panel. The three large gauges across the top are from left to right; airspeed, rpm, & altimeter. The two small gauges just below these three are the oil temperature and pressure. Just below these two small gauges is the mag switch. You can see the turn coordinator through the yoke, just below and slightly left of the airspeed indicator. What you can't see is that just below and to the right of the altimeter is a blank spot for a rate of climb. If I had my druthers, I would swap the altimeter and rpm locations.

To post pictures scroll down below where you write the text and click on "Manage Attachments". When the window opens click on "browse" and follow the path to where the file is you want to upload. Once you click on the file name it starts uploading and you can click on "browse" again for another picture or file. When you upload all you want, scroll down and click on "Close Window". That will close the upload window and take you back to your message. You should see a small print hotlink with the file names of the files you uploaded. I hope this helps. It is a lot easier to do than describe.

        Re: Finally !!!

        Peter,

Enjoyed meeting you up here. I know you will love the t-craft. I think it will really outshine the 150 in takeoff and climb. The weather has been great up here the last week. Went flying tonite with my son, lots of waterfowl on the river. Still light at 11:00, so lots of flying time. Hope to see you up here in your new T-craft. Just rebuilt my Tailwheel and put new bungees on her today.

          Re: Finally !!!

          Thanks guys.

Mike, I would not try to buy something from taylorcraft.com, unfortunately things didn't work out, it would have been great, there are post on this site regarding this issue. Anyway god luck with your purchase, T-Crafts are hard to beat.

Richard, thanks for the picture nice clean panel, I like the light color too. I will try the picture thing.

Wade, I enjoyed meeting you too. Just rub in, you don't have to tell me how great Alaska is, you will see me in the T-Craft up there. I have been waiting for this for a long time. Don't take me wrong, the 150 is a great plane especially as a taildragger. If you get a chance fly by the Lodge and show Doug what a T-Craft can do, he was a Cub guy, and still is.

Anyone needing Taylorcraft parts is stupid not to check the Taylorcraft.com site for availability. Dealing with Diana is a pleasure and she has always been very helpful in promptly shipping parts to me.

                  Re: Finally !!!

That Bob's old t-craft. He put it into a snow covered ditch while landing at a new private strip. I started to buy it from him but something else came up. Shouldn't take much to fix it. Nice airplane and you should really love the way if preformes.

I looked at that plane at Bowman last year.I think Brain Dunn flew it down to try to sell it there
It will be real nice when you get it the way you want it. I look forward to seeing it around.Where in Maine?

                      Perry.
Yes that's the plane. I fly out of 3B4, we are going to be at Southarm every other weekend starting this weekend.

                      Kevin.
I'm sure it will. it's in really god shape except for minor damage.

                          Re: Finally !!!

No floats yet, I don't have a good place down here to keep it. It has all the fittings for floats, after I sell the 150 and get the T-Craft flying I'll start looking.
