    Re: The AFS Process

Mike, the normal finish on the system is very very shiny, but flattener can be added to give the customer whatever degree of finish they want. The glue works much like a contact cement, and like has been said, is thermal active, and is a real bear to pull apart. I've never seen anything like it. One of the demo's I used to give was to take a surface that had been covered in one of the classes and let people remove the fabric from it...that usually sold them on the strength right away!!! It's great stuff..the whole system! Stewarts are good people and will stand behind the system!

Mike, To repair a small hole using AFS ("Small" may be owner repaired) sand gently down to the fabric, use ecobond to glue on a small round pinked patch about twice the size of the hole or at least with plenty of overlap making sure the patch is saturated with glue, iron at about 240 if you're fussy, paint on some ecofill and sand that smooth, then paint on some top coat. Or, to be candid, if you're in a hurry, and you don't care what it looks like or it's on the belly or out of sight, just glue on a patch and go fly. The patch will not come off.
