  • Crispy Update May 1,2007

I woke this morning with just a few finishing touches to do to Crispy knowing that if all went well she would fly this evening and it would be the first time in the air since May 1,1971....that is 36 years to the DAY!! ....Everything on Crispy was ready,I was waiting on my IA to call with the news that the annual was signed and in the books,I rolled her out, gave her a bath, took some pics, a little breezy but not bad at all. When my IA called and gave me the news it truely mad me almost cry, turns out the original AWC which was burnt in the fire was not the permenant but a temp that hadn't been renewed since 1955!!!! So guess what, before we can get an AWC renewed she has to be inspected by a DAR!!!! It looks as if Crispy is not going to make it up this week(at least not legally). I really wanted to fly her on or between the 1st and the 4th of May because her last flight was on May 1,1971 and she was hit by lightning on May 4,1971. Maybe the DAR will only want to see the paper work and will let us have it in a day or so....one can dream, lol.
Anyway,Crispy is all ready to fly...just waiting on the Fed's so we can keep it as legal. If it was just a stock BC12D with the original A65 I wouldn't worry so much about it but with all the mods we have put into this girl I want to make damn sure everything is by the book. I'll get you guys some Pics as soon as I can.Wish us luck with the Fed's
