Re: river landing
I noticed some you in AK have the landing gear bare. No fabric on them.
Is there any speed loose from it?
Better for float or ski mounting?
Nice spot to land on. Here the towns want to close airports, so pretty soon we be all in the north. The once what wants to fly.

Re: river landing
I've met him years ago when I got my float rating from his wife.
Most people don't cover their gear legs up here, because we are not thinking to much about speed and with all the hard landings on rough strips, you kinda want to look close at all the welds and tubes on the gear legs.Wolf Lake Aircraft Services

Re: river landing
Most people don't put a tail ski on a T-craft up here, mainly the tail is not that heavy, like some planes. I don't find I need one. I have a scott 3200 and they make alot of different ones for them, or just build one. Years ago there use to be ones that fit a maule and I think that they were build by federal.Wolf Lake Aircraft Services

Re: river landing
Marc, WLAS is right...forget the tailski, at least until you have been on skiis for a while. I believe you will be completely satisfied with the tailwheel left in place.
Certain snow conditions will make you glad you have the ability to force the tailwheel down into the snow as a brake(actually a drag effect). Also, when the snow gets sparse, you can steer around the bare spots with more control, using the tailwheel rather than a tail ski.(At least with my ski setup).
Also, where are you planning to reside in Alaska? DickDick Smith N5207M TF#159
