Can some post a picture of how the cabin heat control is supposed to be set up? I am certain mine is wrong. The housing comes out of the firewall below the cabin heat valve box, the naked control wire turns 90 degrees and is attached to the control valve. Pushing and pulling the control moves the wire in and out, but due to the 90 degree turn in the wire, it doesn't move the valve at all.

This is not time critical. I live in Houston Texas and I think spring has sprung

Danny, please consider safety-wiring the cabin heat valve (at the firewall) in the OFF position until you get your exhaust and other issues sorted out. If you were in a cold place it might be different. I'm in Los Angeles (where we had temps in the 30's this winter... not common here!), so mine is wired off. It's just one extra thing you can do to make the plane safer and more resistant to an accident. Once you KNOW your exhaust system is sound and does not leak, then you can put it back into working condition, and route your push-pull wire. A 90 degree bend DIRECTLY next to the control arm is correct I believe. But there should not be much slop or hysteresis in the movement.
